December 2007 - RMF associates really stepped up again this year in our annual United Way campaign.  Over 65% of our associates gave and total gifts were up over 40% verses last year.  Definately something to be proud of!

November 2007 - Joe Pons and Ken Holcombe attended the annual Western Carolina Regional Sewer Authority Pollution Prevention Banquet where RMF received a Certificate of Achievement for pollution prevention.  The award recognizes RMF's Mauldin Plant as being completely free of hexavalent chromium compounds as well as other ISO 14001 initiatives.

RMF is now approved for GMW 4700 for Zinc Nickel Alloy.  This is in addition to the Zinc Cobalt approval we received two years ago.

How do you get a good trivalent black passivate on barrel plated zinc parts?  We finally have it!  For years we have produced excellent trivalent black chromate for rack applications but our basket or barrel trivalent black has been marginal in appearance at best.  We are now in production with a great trivalent black chromate for barrel plated work - something the market has been pushing for years.

August 2007 - First entry!  For years Cliff has had his own page on the RMF site - "FROM THE TOP".  Finally I have my own.  Cliff suggested we name my page "FROM THE BOTTOM" - while that may actually be fitting, I came up with "FROM THE SURFACE".  I plan to periodically update it with general news from RMF.

This week we successfully completed our TS surviellance audit with AQA.  While time consuming and somewhat stressful, I always come away with a better perception of where we are and what areas we need work.  We did receive word today that we have been approved for the Delphi specification DX 551200 for zinc plating and thick film trivalent passivation.

Just returned from a good trip to SUR/FIN in Cleveland.  I thought it was a great turnout, generally my peers all appear to be upbeat about their businesses and most equipment and chemistry suppliers were satisfied with business in 2007.  This is encouraging given the general negative trends in our industry over the past 5 years.
