Our Finishing Processes - Zinc Phosphate Plating

Zinc Phosphate Applications

  • For rubber to metal bonding.
  • Uniform base for paint adhesion.
  • Good non-metallic crystalline coating for absorbing oi or wax.
  • Good way to protect parts from corrosion resulting from abrasion.

Zinc Phosphate Advantages

  • Inexpensive
  • Nice black finish when applied over a pre-black.
  • Good corrosion protection - can be enhanced with chrome seal.
  • Dry to touch lubricants can be added.

Roy Metal Finishing Process and Equipment

We operate one automatic hoist machine for both rack and barrel heavy zinc phosphate processing. Zinc coating weights of up to 2500-3500 mgs/square foot ensure corrosion protection. This line is also used for part derusting and oil dipping.

Customer part numbers, work orders and quantities are tracked throughout the process cycle. Temperatures, process tank times, pHs and etc. are linked to each individual barrel load and part number. When we process an item successfully then a recipe is created for that item for next production run. Our customers can be assured that their orders are processed exactly the same from lot to lot.

The post phosphate options include multiple oil options - from dry to touch oils to PPG's Rust A Rest. For extra corrosion protection, a chromate seal can be applied prior to the oil application. Customers not wanting oil can request their parts be finished with a wax.

Our customer salt spray tests every phosphate, chrome seal and oil order to 96 hours.
