Our Finishing Processes - Zinc Nickel Plating
Zinc Nickel Applications
Fasteners Automotive underhood components Automotive fuel and hydraulic parts
Zinc Nickel Advantages
- Excellent corrosion resistance, generally 5X better than pure Zinc
- Excellent corrosion resistance when exposed to high temperature
- Highest abrasion resistance of all zinc alloys Excellent covering power for deep recesses Replacement for the toxic metal, Cadmium
Roy Metal Finishing Process and Equipment
RMF currently has four lines plating zinc nickel alloy (12 - 15% Nickel in the alloy). Two rack alkaline zinc nickel lines and one barrel alkaline zinc nickel. The newest addition to our zinc nickel offerings is on a barrel acid zin nickel (10 - 15% nickel in the alloy) line. This line is excellent for plating zinc nickel directly on hardened fasteners and other material. Plans are under way to offer a rack acid zinc nickel line for plating castings of all types.
Our automatic barrel zinc nickel line is an alkaline zinc alloy with 10%-15% nickel content. The deposit has excellent thermal and corrosion resistance, far superior to conventional zinc plating processes. We offer an iridescent chromate conversion coating to further enhance corrosion resistance. Production plated parts have consistently passed 250 hours to white rust and 1000 hours to red rust in numerous salt spray tests during the past year with hexavalent chromate without any topcoats. A hexavalent free chromate finish is available.
